The Houston Museum District

All museums in the Houston Museum District have free general admission on Thursdays (although special exhibits may still cost a fee). Two of the more popular museums are
- The Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH), and
- The Houston Museum of Natural Science
These two museums are both within walking distance of
- The Houston Zoo, and
- Hermann Park.
Rice Village, a pedestrian friendly area with a number of shops, restaurants, and pubs.
The Galleria, a very large mall with many shopping opportunities.
Space Center Houston, the official visitor center of NASA Johnson Space Center. Despite the name, this is actually outside of Houston proper, and about 25 miles southeast of University of Houston.
