0.3   Arithmetic and the Arbitrary Applet

There will be times when you will be working with a specialized applet, but you may want to enter an arithmetic expression instead of a number. Well, go right ahead. Every applet which takes numbers as inputs can take arithmetic expressions and they will do integer arithmetic with them.

For example, we saw this next applet before. Notice how the entries for a and b are given as expressions. The applet does not mind.

Try different expressions and recompute the result to see how this works.
