We are the Texas Theta Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon (PME). Our group serves two purposes:
We function as the Undergraduate Math Club at the University of Houston. Each semester we organize a number of activities
to promote mathematics and professional development. Our activities are open to any students at UH. At the beginning of each
semester, we hold an organizational meeting to decide what events to have during the coming semester. Everyone is welcome, and
encouraged, to attend these meetings to suggest activities and/or help organize events. You can see
a
list of upcoming events on our events page.
Pi Mu Epsilon (PME) is the national honor society in mathematics. Official membership is a nationally recognized
honor, which you can put on a resume or application to graduate school. Membership is only open to students that satisfy certain
GPA eligibility requirements. Each semester, we send out an email to all
math students inviting those who are eligible for membership to apply. If you have not received this
email in the past, or wish to be on the next email we send out, please
contact the PME Faculty Advisor. As stated above, even if you
are not a member of the national Pi Mu Epsilon honor society, you are welcome
to be involved in all Pi Mu Epsilon meetings and Math Club events.
