Tomforde. see Undergraduate Research Projects and Other Programs in Resources for Math Majors in particular: Undergraduate Research with a UH Professor REU Programs from Prof. Tomforde Other REU programs: UH Downtown Math & UH Civil Engineering The Mathematics and Natural Sciences departments of UHD, in collaboration with the Civil Engineering Department of UH, are offering Research Experience for Undergraduates program this summer of 2019. The focus is on mathematical modeling (dynamics and optimization) in plant biology and solid mechanics/engineering. Analytic, computational and experimental projects will be part of the program. The participants will have living and travel expenses paid, and receive $4000 stipend. How to apply; Application Deadline: February 15 in 2019 Summer Programs for Math Majors Semester Programs for Math Majors Programs for Math Majors to Obtain Teaching Experience Programs for Women, Minorities, or Members of Under-Represented Groups among these, some programs here at UH (see more at the UH Office of Undergraduate Research) UH Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF), which provides full-time support during the summer. Summer 2016 application deadline is March 28, 2016. The Office of Undergraduate Research is now accepting applications for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF-UH) program. The SURF-UH program awards $3500 to students interested in conducting a full-time, 10 week summer research project in any field under the mentorship of a UH faculty member. The student first secures the research project with the faculty member, and then the student and faculty member apply for the program collaboratively online. All continuing UH undergraduates with at least a 3.0 gpa who have not previously participated in the SURF-UH program (and are not graduating in spring 2016 or summer 2016) are eligible to apply. The deadline for the SURF program is Monday, March 28th. Applications are available online at uh.edu/honors/undergraduate-research/uh-research/surf/index.php Houston Early Research Experience (HERE). Summer 2016 application deadline is March 23, 2016. The Houston Early Research Experience (HERE) is a two-week workshop (May 16-27, 2016) intended to orient students on the fundamentals of conducting research. The program is open to freshmen and sophomores from all majors. Competitive candidates should have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA. HERE students receive a $1K fall 2016 scholarship and an invitation to join the Houston Scholars program in fall 2016. The application deadline is Wednesday, March 23, 2016. More information is available at www.uh.edu/HEREprogram Provost's Undergraduate Research Scholarship (PURS). Fall 2016 application deadline is April 22, 2016. Deadline: Friday, April 22, 2016 The Office of Undergraduate Research is now accepting applications for the Provost's Undergraduate Research Scholarship (PURS) program for fall 2016. The deadline is Friday, April 22, 2016. All full-time juniors and seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA, who have not previously participated in the PURS program, are eligible to apply. The PURS is a part-time, mentored research opportunity which awards a $1000 scholarship for the fall 2016 semester.
